Exam No. 1

It is not too early to start thinking about the first exam in this course. (This exam will be on September 20.) The exam will be made up of three questions -- two full-length questions and one multi-part question. Details:.
  • One full-length question will be applying the planar rigid body equations to kinematic analysis of a mechanism.
  • The other full-length question will be using the 2-D moving reference frame kinematics equations.
  • The remaining question will be made up of four parts. Topics covered in these shorter-length questions include: point kinematics (Cartesian, path and polar), cable-pulley systems and instant centers. Expect questions to be asked relating the chain rule of differentiation and the rate of change of speed.
Please see the Exam page on the course website for more details on the exam and help session for the exam.

Is there any type of restriction on what type of calculator we can use for the exam?

Thanks,

I do not see a need for restrictions in terms of its calculation capabilities. However, you will not be allowed to use any communication devices (cell phone, wireless internet device, etc.) during the exam.
