Course blog - future use

The Fall 2007 course blog for ME 274 will remain accessible and operational throughout the near future.

At some point between now and the start of next semester most of the course links will be removed as I set up the course website for Spring 2008. Only the links from the blog to the solution videos will remain.

Feel free to access the course blog and solution videos as you need throughout the near future.

Thanks to all of you who participated in the blog. I hope that its use was beneficial in learning the course material. Best wishes in your future studies.

Archive

Professor Krousgrill,
Does this blog get archived at the beginning of next semester, or does it disappear? There is so much useful information in the posts here that it would be a great resource.
Thanks

Final exam - solution

Dropped homeworks and bonus points

I'm trying to get an idea of what my grades are before they come out on SSINFO. How many bonus points were we awarded at the beginning of the semester (for signing up for the blog and sending in a picture) and towards which component of our grade do they count? Also, what was the incentive for 3 or more blog posts?

Dampeners

Prof.
I was doing a problem last night while studying and it consisted of a block with a spring and a dampener on the left and a spring connected to a block on the right. The block had a given motion to the right. Given that motion, the spring on the left must be in tension. I thought I remembered that a spring and a dampener on the same side must act in the same direction, but I don't understand how a dampener can act in tension; conceptually I would think a dampener came only act as a force of compression. Thanks.
